Reverse Engineering Course in Sikkim

Reverse engineering is working out how a compiled program behaves when nobody gives you the source code. This track moves from x86 and x64 assembly and calling conventions to reading disassembly in Ghidra and IDA Free, stepping through binaries in a debugger, recognising compiler patterns, defeating simple anti-debug tricks, and grinding through crackmes until disassembly reads like text.

What this track will not do for you

The learning curve is brutal and the first few weeks feel like failure — that is normal, not proof you are unsuited. This track will not make you an exploit developer or a firmware researcher; those need years more. Reverse engineering jobs in India are few and almost always expect a public portfolio of write-ups.

Who this is for

For people who genuinely enjoy slow, detailed puzzle work — future malware researchers, exploit developers, firmware and product security testers. Honestly not for anyone chasing a fast job outcome, and not for people who have never programmed, since you will be reading compiler output for a language you have never written yourself.

Prerequisites: You must be able to write and compile small C programs and understand pointers, the stack, the heap and data types. Comfort with a debugger, hexadecimal and binary is expected. Above all you need the temperament to sit with a single function for an hour without giving up. This is the strictest prerequisite list we publish.

The picture in Sikkim

Sikkim rests on three pillars: pharmaceutical manufacturing clustered along the Rangpo–Singtam industrial corridor in the east, tourism drawn by Kanchenjunga and the monasteries, and hydropower. Agriculture is organic by state policy, producing large cardamom, ginger, turmeric and orchids. Government service and the tourism supply chain — hotels, homestays, taxi operators, guides and eateries — employ much of the working population.

Gangtok is a Smart City project area with solid broadband and near-universal UPI acceptance in hotels, taxis and shops. The state is small and compact, which helps coverage, but high-altitude North Sikkim and the Lachen and Lachung valleys stay patchy and weather-dependent. Tourism operators are already digitally fluent, running bookings across travel portals, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Reverse Engineering Course syllabus

12 weeks · 60 hours (live online, or at the Hisar campus). Every module is hands-on — you work on your own machine from Sikkim, never against systems you do not own.

01. Machine-level foundations

  • x86 and x64 registers, flags and core instruction set
  • The stack, stack frames and calling conventions
  • Process memory layout: text, data, heap, stack
  • Endianness, integer sizes and two-complement arithmetic
  • C source next to its disassembly, line by line

02. Static analysis with Ghidra

  • Loading binaries, auto-analysis and symbol recovery
  • Function graphs and control flow reading
  • Decompiler output versus the underlying assembly
  • Renaming, retyping and rebuilding structures
  • Cross-references and scripting repetitive work

03. Dynamic analysis and debugging

  • x64dbg on Windows, GDB with pwndbg on Linux
  • Breakpoints, watchpoints and conditional breaks
  • Tracing API and syscall usage during execution
  • Patching instructions and testing the effect
  • Reconciling runtime behaviour with static assumptions

04. Recognising compiler patterns

  • Loops, switch tables and jump tables
  • String handling and standard library inlining
  • Structs, arrays and C++ objects with vtables
  • C++ name mangling and RTTI leftovers
  • Artefacts introduced by optimisation levels

05. Obfuscation and protections

  • Packers and self-modifying entry points
  • Anti-debug and anti-VM checks, and how to neutralise them in a lab
  • Control flow flattening and simple virtual machine obfuscation
  • Licence and serial validation logic patterns
  • ELF versus PE differences that change your workflow

06. Practice that actually counts

  • A graded crackme progression from trivial to painful
  • CTF reversing challenges under time pressure
  • Writing public write-ups that hiring managers can read
  • Building a personal methodology and note template
  • Knowing when to stop and ask a better question

Where this leads

RoleTypical band
Malware / Threat Researcherroughly ₹6–14 LPA range
Product Security Engineerroughly ₹6–15 LPA range
Vulnerability Research / Exploit Developmentroughly ₹8–20 LPA range at senior level, very few openings
Embedded / Firmware Security Testerroughly ₹6–14 LPA range

Salary bands are indicative ranges across India and vary widely with skill, city and employer. Public aggregators disagree considerably on specialist roles, so treat any single figure — including these — as a range, not a promise. We do not guarantee placement.

Fees

These are our published course fees. Specialist tracks like the reverse engineering course are quoted on the counselling call, because the right scope depends on what you already know — we will not sell you six months of content to teach you something you can cover in six weeks.

Cyber Security Course3–4 months₹15,000
Ethical Hacking Course (CEH-aligned)6 months₹60,000
Digital Forensics2 months / 35 hours₹10,999

Reverse Engineering Course in Sikkim — FAQs

Is the Reverse Engineering Course worth doing from Sikkim?

Reverse engineering is working out how a compiled program behaves when nobody gives you the source code. This track moves from x86 and x64 assembly and calling conventions to reading disassembly in Ghidra and IDA Free, stepping through binaries in a debugger, recognising compiler patterns, defeating simple anti-debug tricks, and grinding through crackmes until disassembly reads like text. Locally, Gangtok is a Smart City project area with solid broadband and near-universal UPI acceptance in hotels, taxis and shops. The employers who value this here sit in pharmaceuticals, tourism & hospitality, hydropower. Classes are live online, so where in Sikkim you live changes nothing about the teaching, the labs or the certificate.

What do I need to know before starting?

You must be able to write and compile small C programs and understand pointers, the stack, the heap and data types. Comfort with a debugger, hexadecimal and binary is expected. Above all you need the temperament to sit with a single function for an hour without giving up. This is the strictest prerequisite list we publish.

What will this NOT do for me?

The learning curve is brutal and the first few weeks feel like failure — that is normal, not proof you are unsuited. This track will not make you an exploit developer or a firmware researcher; those need years more. Reverse engineering jobs in India are few and almost always expect a public portfolio of write-ups.

Do I really need to know C before starting?

Yes. Not expert-level C, but enough to write, compile and debug a program with pointers, structs and loops. Reverse engineering is reading the compiler output of C-like code; without the source-side intuition you are memorising instruction sequences instead of understanding them, and progress stalls around week four.

Ghidra free hai to phir IDA Pro ki zarurat hai kya?

Course ke liye bilkul nahi. Ghidra open source hai aur decompiler bhi deta hai, IDA Free bhi kaafi hai. IDA Pro ka licence bahut mehnga hai aur wo aam tor par company deti hai, student nahi kharidta. Hum Ghidra par hi padhate hain.

How is this different from your malware analysis course?

Malware analysis asks what a sample does, and mostly answers that from behaviour, with only shallow code reading. Reverse engineering asks how the code works instruction by instruction, on any binary — game, licence check, firmware or malware. Many people take malware analysis first and return here when shallow answers stop being enough.

Can I crack software or bypass licences after this course?

The techniques overlap, and we will not insult your intelligence by pretending otherwise — but cracking commercial software is copyright infringement and we teach on purpose-built crackmes and CTF binaries instead. Do it commercially and you are committing a crime, not demonstrating skill.

We have no office in Sikkim

Cyber Defence has one campus — Red Square Market, Hisar, Haryana 125001 — and teaches Sikkim live online. We do not list addresses we do not have, we publish no star ratings because we have no verified review corpus, and we do not guarantee placement.

We issue a Cyber Defence certificate with a public verification link. We are not an authorised training centre for EC-Council, OffSec, CompTIA, AWS or Microsoft, and we do not resell their exam vouchers.
