What should I know before attempting OSCP?

OSCP is a practical exam, not a multiple-choice one — you compromise machines within 24 hours and then submit a professional report. Candidates most often fail on enumeration discipline, on privilege escalation, and on the report rather than on exotic exploits. If you cannot yet work through vulnerable machines methodically and write up what you did, you are not ready to pay for PEN-200 yet.

OSCP or CEH first?

They do different jobs. CEH is a multiple-choice credential that gets your CV through HR screening and appears in Indian job listings and empanelment requirements. OSCP is a hands-on exam that convinces technical interviewers you can actually do the work. For most people in Assam the practical sequence is: build lab skill, take CEH if your target employers list it, then attempt OSCP once you can consistently compromise and document machines unaided.

How long does OSCP preparation take?

Realistically six to twelve months from a standing start, and that assumes several hours a week on machines rather than videos. Our six-month course covers the foundation; the OSCP-specific grind — Active Directory sets, buffer-basics, exam-format practice — happens on OffSec's own labs and platforms like Hack The Box afterwards. Anyone promising OSCP in a few weeks is selling you something.
