Google Cybersecurity Certificate — Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate

The Google Cybersecurity Certificate is a beginner training programme on Coursera, taught by Google security practitioners. It is a course completion certificate rather than a proctored certification: there is no invigilated exam. It is designed to take a complete beginner to entry-level SOC and analyst readiness, and it includes preparation towards CompTIA Security+.

Cost	Lowest band by a wide margin. It is sold as a Coursera monthly subscription, so the total depends on how fast you finish — India pricing is significantly lower than US pricing and a free trial period is normally offered. Financial aid and scholarship routes exist on Coursera. Check current India subscription pricing on Coursera before enrolling.
Validity / renewal	It does not expire and has no renewal fee or CPE requirement, because it certifies course completion rather than assessed competence. There is nothing to maintain.
Prerequisites	None whatsoever. No degree, no IT background, no application. It is explicitly built for people with zero prior exposure, which is why it works as a first step for career changers and for students unsure whether security suits them.

Is it worth it?

It is the cheapest honest way to find out whether you actually like cyber security before spending real money. The content is well produced, the Linux, SQL and Python modules are genuinely useful, and completion gives structured knowledge plus a Security+ discount and access to Google’s employer consortium. For an Indian student or career changer, it is a sensible first purchase — often less than one month of coaching-class fees.

The downside

It is not a certification in the sense CEH or Security+ are — nobody proctored it, so it proves attendance, not ability, and Indian recruiters weight it accordingly. Many people finish it and mistakenly believe they are job-ready. On its own it will not get interviews; it needs a follow-up credential and demonstrable lab work behind it.

Compared to

Versus	Verdict
CompTIA Security+	Google teaches, Security+ certifies. The Google programme is cheaper, gentler and explicitly prepares you for Security+; Security+ is the proctored credential employers actually screen on. The correct sequence for most beginners is Google first, Security+ second.
CEH	Different universes in price and purpose. Google’s certificate costs a tiny fraction and is defensive and introductory; CEH is expensive, offensive and recognised by Indian HR. Doing Google first tells you cheaply whether CEH money is worth spending at all.
eJPT	Both are affordable, but eJPT is a proctored hands-on offensive exam while Google is unproctored defensive coursework. A beginner can do both for less than a single CEH voucher and end up with genuine skill on each side of the fence.

Is the Google Cybersecurity Certificate enough to get a job?

Usually not on its own. It is an unproctored course completion certificate, so it demonstrates study rather than assessed ability, and Indian recruiters treat it as a starting point. Learners who convert it into a job normally add a proctored certification such as Security+ plus visible hands-on lab or home-lab work.

How long does the Google Cybersecurity Certificate take?

Eight self-paced courses, typically three to six months at a few hours a week. Because Coursera bills by subscription, finishing faster directly reduces what you pay — many disciplined learners complete it in well under the average time.

Google certificate or CEH for a beginner in India?

Google first, almost always. It costs a fraction of CEH and tells you cheaply whether you enjoy the field. If after finishing it you still want the credential that Indian recruiters name, then CEH becomes a considered decision rather than an expensive guess.
