eJPT — eLearnSecurity Junior Penetration Tester

eJPT is INE’s entry-level hands-on penetration testing certification. Instead of a question paper about hacking, you get 48 hours in a real lab and must exploit machines to answer the questions. It has no prerequisites, costs a fraction of the famous certifications, and is the cheapest credible way to prove you can actually do the work.

Cost	Low band — one of the best value-for-money exams in security. The standalone voucher is a few hundred US dollars at most, and it is often cheaper to take an INE subscription that includes the preparation course and the exam attempt. Compare the subscription and voucher routes on INE’s site before buying; pricing changes and promotions are common.
Validity / renewal	INE has positioned eJPT as a non-expiring certification, unlike the three-year cycles at CompTIA, ISC2 and EC-Council. Vendor renewal policies do change, so confirm the current position on INE’s certification page before assuming it is permanent.
Prerequisites	None. No experience, no application, no waiver fee. You should know basic networking, be able to use a Linux terminal and have seen Nmap, Metasploit and Burp Suite before, but INE’s associated training assumes you are starting near zero.

Is it worth it?

eJPT proves something CEH cannot: that you personally enumerated a network, found a way in and pulled evidence out. For a student or career changer in India it is the highest skill-per-rupee certification available, and it gives you concrete things to describe in an interview. It is also excellent preparation for whether you should spend serious money on OSCP later.

The downside

Brand recognition in India is weak. Many HR screeners and smaller employers have never heard of INE or eLearnSecurity, so it will not clear resume filters that CEH clears. It is also genuinely junior — it proves you can follow a methodology against straightforward targets, not that you can handle a defended enterprise network.

Compared to

Versus	Verdict
CEH	eJPT teaches and tests more per rupee; CEH opens more doors with Indian HR. A common sensible plan is eJPT early for real skill and CEH later when an employer is paying or a job listing demands it.
OSCP	eJPT is the sane rehearsal. It uses the same broad workflow at far lower stakes and cost. If eJPT feels comfortable, OSCP is a reasonable next investment; if eJPT is a struggle, OSCP would have been an expensive failure.
PNPT	PNPT is the natural next step up — longer, harder, with Active Directory and a real report and debrief. Both come from smaller vendors with strong practitioner reputations but limited Indian HR recognition.
Google Cybersecurity Certificate	Completely different intent. Google’s certificate is defensive and introductory with no proctored exam; eJPT is offensive and proctored in a live lab. A beginner unsure of direction can do both for less than a single CEH voucher.

Is eJPT worth it for a beginner in India?

Yes, as a skills credential. It is cheap, fully hands-on and has no prerequisites, so it proves you can actually exploit machines rather than describe them. Just do not expect it to get you past HR filters that specifically name CEH — its value is in the interview and in your own confidence.

How hard is the eJPT exam?

Entry level but not trivial. You get 48 hours, it is open book, and the targets are approachable if you know enumeration properly. Most failures come from weak scanning and pivoting discipline rather than from exotic exploitation.

eJPT vs CEH — which should I do first?

If you are learning, eJPT first: it is far cheaper and teaches by doing. If you already have a specific job or tender that names CEH, do CEH first because no amount of eJPT will satisfy a listing that says CEH. Many people end up with both, in that order.

eJPT ke baad seedha OSCP kar sakte hain?

Kar sakte ho, par beech mein gap hai. eJPT ke baad kam se kam 30-40 practice machines aur Active Directory basics kar lo, tabhi OSCP ka mehnga attempt lena samajhdaari hai. Ya beech mein PNPT try kar sakte ho — sasta bhi hai aur AD bhi sikhata hai.
