What an Overseas Buyer Checks on a Tiruppur or Coimbatore Exporter's Website

Knitwear, pump and machinery exporters in Tamil Nadu lose foreign enquiries on credibility, not on price. Here is what an overseas buyer looks for on your website before sending the first email.

Updated August 2026. An export enquiry from Europe or West Asia usually begins with a buyer who has never heard of your unit, has three or four shortlisted suppliers, and about a minute to decide which ones deserve an email. Tamil Nadu's knitwear units in Tiruppur, pump and motor makers in Coimbatore, and engineering suppliers in Erode and Karur are technically strong and price-competitive. Where they lose is in that first minute, on a website that cannot answer the buyer's real question: can this supplier be trusted with an order placed from another country?

TL;DR: Export buyers screen for verifiable capability, not for design. Show plant and capacity detail, certifications, product specifications they can download, named contacts and a working enquiry route. Keep the export site in English and separate from your Tamil-language local pages.

Capability, stated in numbers a buyer can check

The single most common gap is a homepage that describes the company as a leading manufacturer and then stops. A buyer wants machine count and type, monthly capacity, fabric or material range, in-house versus job-work processes, and lead time from order to dispatch. Publishing that removes the back-and-forth of the first three emails, and it filters out enquiries you did not want anyway. If a figure varies by season, say so plainly instead of leaving the page silent.

Certifications and compliance where they can be seen

Overseas buyers, especially in apparel and food-contact goods, have compliance obligations of their own. Whatever you hold, put it on the site with the certificate number and issuing body rather than a generic logo strip.

  • Quality and process certifications relevant to your line
  • Social and environmental audit reports where buyers routinely ask for them
  • Test reports for materials, dyes or components
  • Import-export code and company registration details in the footer
  • Photographs of the actual floor, dated, not stock imagery

Product pages that behave like spec sheets

A catalogue of images with style names is not enough for a buyer who has to compare you against a supplier in another country. Each product needs composition or material grade, sizes, GSM or tolerance, packing detail, minimum order quantity and a downloadable PDF. The PDF matters more than people expect, because it is the file that gets forwarded internally to the buyer's technical team, and it should carry your company name and contact details on every page.

Make it easy to start a conversation

Enquiry forms that ask for twelve fields get abandoned. Ask for company, country, product interest and message, and put a named person, a direct email and a WhatsApp number beside the form. State your working hours with a time-zone reference so a buyer in Germany or Dubai knows when to expect a reply. Every hour of delay on a first export enquiry costs you position in the buyer's shortlist. The build side of this is covered on our web development in Tamil Nadu page.

Keep the export site separate from the local one

Your domestic customers search in Tamil and want a phone number and a location. Your export buyers search in English, in industry terms, and want documentation. Trying to serve both from one page weakens both. The practical arrangement is an English export section with product and capability depth, and a Tamil-first local section with Maps integration and enquiry buttons, linked but written separately. We build and maintain these sites for Tamil Nadu clients remotely from our Hisar office at Red Square Market, Hisar, Haryana 125001. Search visibility for both audiences is handled through SEO services in Tamil Nadu.

FAQ

Do we need a separate website for exports?

Usually a separate section is enough rather than a separate domain. What matters is that the English export pages carry specification depth while the Tamil local pages stay short, fast and enquiry-focused.

Is publishing capacity and machine details risky?

Competitors can generally estimate your capacity anyway from your floor and workforce. The commercial cost of losing serious buyers to vagueness is far higher than the cost of transparency.

Should product PDFs be behind a form?

For a first-time buyer, no. Gating the spec sheet removes you from the shortlist before you are in it. Gate detailed pricing or tooling drawings instead, if anything.

How do buyers find these pages at all?

Mostly through English product and material searches, trade directory profiles that link back to the site, and increasingly through AI assistants that summarise supplier options. All three depend on the site actually stating what you make.
